I'm a software developer living in Bend, OR! I moved to Oregon to attend the University of Oregon where I graduated with my Master's in Computer Science. My research interests while in school were related to theoretical computer science, particularly formal program analysis and validation. I have a bachelor's degree in both Computer Science and Mathematics from Minnesota State University - Mankato.
It also happens that I have hobbies! My big interests are endurance sports - distance hiking, cycling, and running (my longest race so far has been a measly 25k, though). I attempted to qualify for the 2019 PBP by riding a 200k, 300k, and 400k -- but my left I.T. band had different ideas.
In the past, I've ridden the ACA Sierra Cascades route (June 19th - July 5th, 2017), and two nice bikepacking routes ("Oregon's Big Country" and "Central Oregon Backcountry Explorer"). I've also hiked every trail in the Three Sisters Wilderness (summer 2019), the John Muir Trail (July 2020), and the Sierra High Route (July 2020). Towards the end of 2020,
I made a route through the Wind River range for my family and I charted my own high route through the Wallowas of Oregon.
I also climbed two mountains named "Matterhorn" in 2020. In the summer of 2024, I rode my bicycle 2300 miles around the great basin, generally following the Fremont route from 1843.
I maintain a list of summits that I've climbed here.
